Assessment Information [top]

Red List Category & Criteria: Lower Risk/near threatened     ver 2.3

Assessor/s Simpfendorfer, C. & Compagno, L.J.V.
Evaluator/s: Musick, J.A. & Fowler, S. (Shark Red List Authority)
Justification:
This small triakid shark has a patchy distribution in the Indo-West Pacific. Given the minor nature of this species in fisheries, it is unlikely that it faces an immediate threat of extinction. However, its patchy distribution and relatively low abundance throughout its range increases the potential for future fishing pressure to cause problems.
