Geographic Range [top]

Range Description: The species was originally described in 1755 as a remarkable species with fruit hanging transversely off the stalks. It is recorded as being endemic to Banda-Neira Island and introduced to Amboina Island. In 1993, this species was described by Kostermans based on a small cultivated tree, which is reputed to be common on Banda-Neira Island.
