Justification:

Uromys imperator is known from three specimens collected by Charles Woodford between 1886 and 1888, at Aola, Guadalcanal (Flannery 1995). Anecdotal information suggests that the species survived until the 1960s. Groves and Flannery (1994) noted that there have been little or no reliable sightings over the last 40 years. Included on the list of extinctions drawn up by MacPhee and Flemming (1999), this species is now considered Extinct by the IUCN/SSC Rodent Specialist Group.
