Range Description:

Pitta caerulea occurs in the Sundaic lowlands, from south Tenasserim, Myanmar, peninsular Thailand, Sabah, Sarawak and Peninsular Malaysia, Kalimantan and Sumatra (not recorded this century), Indonesia and Brunei, in forests and bamboo to 1,200 m. Forest destruction in the Sundaic lowlands of Indonesia has been so extensive that all primary formations are expected to disappear by 2010, and the situation is little different in Malaysia, but the species's use of submontane slopes, where forest destruction has been considerably less severe, and tolerance of second growth implies that it is not immediately threatened.
