Although northeastern Africa was not analysed as a region, species assessments were still carried out where possible. This included assessing 108 endemic species, of which almost a third are threatened with extinction. This is an area which is not well studied, and not well represented in scientific literature. As a result, almost half of species did not have enough information available to complete an assessment, and are currently categorised as Data Deficient.
