Range Description: This species is known only from the vicinity of Omiltemi in the Sierra Madre del Sur of Guerrero State, Mexico. It has been recorded from 2,100 to 2,600 m asl.

Population: This species is moderately abundant within its few known localities. It is easily found during surveys and does not appear to be a rare animal.

Habitat and Ecology [top]

Habitat and Ecology: This is an arboreal species of montane pine-oak forest. It is suspected that the species does not adapt well to significant levels of deforestation.

Major Threat(s): This species is significantly threatened by the loss of pine-oak forest through logging activities and the conversion of land to agricultural use. Additionally, populations are threatened by directly set forest fires.

Conservation Actions: The species has been recorded from the Omiltemi Protected State Park. Further conservation related activities and research are urgently needed to preserve this species and its habitat.
