Scientific Name: Hypsiboas balzani
Species Authority: (Boulenger, 1898)
Taxonomic Notes: This species was previously within the genus Hyla but has recently been moved to the resurrected genus Hypsiboas (Faivovich, et al., 2005). This form is a complex of more than one species; one of the species involved needs to be called Hypsiboas callipleura (J. Köhler pers comm).

Listed as Least Concern in view of its wide distribution, presumed large population, and because it is unlikely to be declining fast enough to qualify for listing in a more threatened category.

Range Description: This species occurs on the eastern slopes of the Peruvian and Bolivian Andes, Peru, Departamentos Cuzco and Puno; Bolivia, Departamentos La Paz, Cochabamba and Sanata Cruz. Its altitudinal range is 450-2,210m asl.

Habitat and Ecology: Its habitat is cloud and Yungas forest, breeds in slow flowing streams and ditches. It is present in disturbed habitat.

Conservation Actions: Present in many protected areas in Bolivia and Parque Nacional Manu in Peru.
