This species is listed as Least Concern in view of its wide distribution, presumed large population, occurrence in a number of protected areas, tolerance of a degree of habitat modification, and because it is unlikely to be declining fast enough to qualify for listing in a more threatened category.

Range Description:This species occurs in the Altiplano of central Peru (Arana-Cardó and Ascorra 1994) to western Bolivia and northwestern Argentina (Jayat et al. 2013). Recently it has been found in the region of Arica and Parinacota, Chile (Faúndez et al. 2015). It has an elevational range of about 2,200 to 5,000 m (Musser and Carleton 2005).
