Justification:
In the Philippines, the species occurs only in Dinagat Island, a small mining island. The species is found in degraded and fragmented habitats. These areas are exposed to human disturbance, i.e., logging, slash-and-burn, and expansion of settlement areas. The species is rare but are sought for by local enthusiasts.

Habitat and Ecology: This species is similar to Renanthera and is distinguished from Ascocentrum with the branched inflorescence and four pollinia (Fessel and Balzer 2000).
