| Habitat and Ecology: |
Dwarf shrubland and open woodland in semi-decidous woodland in mist-affected areas. Altitude of 400–800 m.
Herb < 15 cm with small, woody taproot. Basal leaves in a dense rosette, spathulate, 1.5–4 x 0.1–0.2 cm, sinuate. Capitula in little-branched inflorescence; cylindrical, 0.5–1 cm long. Restricted to mist-effected regions on Soqotra including the Haggeher mountains, Jebal Ma’alih and the areas of relict woodland on the Southwest plateaus. It is also found in the refugium of relatively mesic conditions on the north-facing limestone cliffs on Samha (cf Begonia samhaensis). |
