Justification:
An epiphytic fern endemic to Ecuador, where it is known from two collections made more than a century apart. In the middle of the nineteenth century, it was collected by W. Jameson at an unknown locale in Cañar province, at 4,000 m elevation. In 1973, it was collected on Volcán Chiles, in Carchi province, also at 4,000 m elevation. Not know to occur in Ecuador’s protected areas network, but may occur in protected areas found at these elevations. No specimens of this species are housed in Ecuadorian museums. Apart from habitat destruction, no other threats are known.
