Justification:
A shrub or vine endemic to Ecuador where it is known from nine subpopulations in the northeastern Andes. Most of the specimens have been collected on roadsides. One subpopulation in the surroundings of the Papallacta-Cuyuja road faces a high risk of extinction, due to the ongoing conversion of native vegetation to pasture. Confirmed inside the Reserva Ecológica Antisana and the Reserva Ecológica Cayambe-Coca, near Oyacachi. Although it grows inside a protected area, the Oyacachi subpopulation is threatened by deforestation.
