Justification: Stipa veneta is restricted to coastal dunes in northeast Italy where it occurs at more then six, severely fragmented, locations. This species has a stable population which counts less than 250 mature individuals. Habitat loss and degradation due to tourism infrastructure and recreational activities are the main threats. It is therefore classed as Endangered. |
Range Description: | This species is endemic to the dunes of the Veneto region in northeast Italy, and is found mainly on the Adriatic coast. It has also been reported from Friuli Venezia Giulia. In total, it occurs at more then six locations but the populations are severely fragmented. Its geographic range is only 28 km² (Commission of the European Communities 2009). | ||||
