Population: Few healthy populations remain. Regeneration is said to be good where allowed.

Habitat and Ecology: A slow-growing species, found primarily in the west coast evergreen forests, and also occasionally in secondary evergreen dipterocarp forest in the south.

Threats [top]

Major Threat(s): The timber has been overexploited, particularly for the plywood industry. Loss of habitat and other human activities have also contributed to population declines.

Conservation Actions [top]

Conservation Actions: Some populations are contained in forest reserves. Trees are being planted on a small scale.
