There is little known about the population of this species. It has a fairly restricted distribution (southwest Pacific). It inhabits deeper waters and is caught in trawl fisheries and marketed. The effects of trawling to the population of this species is unknown. It is listed as Data Deficent. Further work is required to assesss the effects of trawling on the population.
