Listed as Vulnerable because its Extent of Occurrence is less than 20,000 km2, its distribution is severely fragmented, and there is continuing decline in the extent and quality of its habitat in the Albertine Rift Mountains.

Range Description:This species occurs in Kivu Province in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo, western Rwanda, western Burundi, and south-western Uganda, probably north to Mount Ruwenzori. It is normally found above 1,500m asl.

Population: It is not a very abundant species.
Population Trend: Decreasing

Habitat and Ecology: Its habitat is not well known, but it has been found in montane grassland, bamboo forests, and in wetland areas in reeds and papyrus. It breeds in marshy areas.

Major Threat(s): Little information is available, though it is likely to be impacted by loss of habitat for agriculture and human settlements.

Conservation Actions [top]

Conservation Actions: It has been recorded from Virungas National Park in the Democratic Republic of Congo and Bwindi National Park in Uganda.
