|Scientific Name:||Siamanthus siliquosus K.Larsen & Mood|
|Taxonomic Source(s):||Larsen, K. and Mood, J. 1998. Siamanthus, a new genus of Zingiberaceae from Thailand. Nordic Journal of Botany 18(4): 393-397.|
|Red List Category & Criteria:||Vulnerable D1 ver 3.1|
|Assessor(s):||Leong-Skornickova, J., Tran, H.D., Newman, M., Lamxay, V. & Bouamanivong, S.|
This species is only known from the type locality which is not precisely stated, where it has a very small range and presumably population (probably under 1,000 mature individuals). Based on the small extent of occurrence (under 30 km²), a potential continuing decline in the extent and quality of the habitat due to deforestation which would make the area a single location, this species could potentially be listed as Critically Endangered. However, the potential threat is just suspected and not confirmed as the locality is within a protected area. Hence it seems more precautionary at this stage to base the listing on the inferred population size which qualifies it for listing as Vulnerable.
|Range Description:||This species is only known from the type locality near La Lok village, Sungai Padi District in Narathiwat, Peninsular Thailand. The extent of occurrence is estimated to be 20-30 km².|

|Population:||There is little information on population size or trends, but given that it is only known from the type locality, the population is assumed to be very small and certainly under 1,000 mature individuals.|
|Current Population Trend:||Unknown|
|Habitat and Ecology:||Grows in evergreen forest at about 800 m asl (Larsen and Mood 1998).|
|Use and Trade:||The species has no recorded uses and there is no trade in this taxon.|
|Major Threat(s):||The only potential threat for this species would be a decline in habitat quality and extent.|
|Conservation Actions:||Probably occurs in Budo Sungai Padi National Park.|
