Justification:
Total population numbers have been estimated at c. 33,000 and more or less stable; there are good populations, stable or increasing on private land and in protected areas. It therefore does not currently meet the criteria for threatened status or for Near Threatened. The Southern Mountain Reedbuck’s status will remain secure as long as it continues to be represented by good-sized, stable or increasing populations on private land and in protected areas in South Africa.
