|Scientific Name:||Actinopyga serratidens Pearson, 1903|
|Taxonomic Notes:||This species has three subspecies which are: A. serratidens agassizii, A. serratidens serratidens, and A. serratidens bannwarthi (Samyn et al. 2006).|
|Red List Category & Criteria:||Data Deficient ver 3.1|
|Reviewer(s):||Polidoro, B., Harwell, H., Carpenter, K.E. & Knapp, L.|
This species appears to be relatively widespread, but it is only known from a few specimens. Given its very shallow water habitat, it may be susceptible to a number of anthropogenic threats. There is very little known on this species distribution, population status, habitat, ecology, or impact of any potential major threats. It is listed as Data Deficient.
|Range Description:||This species is found in east Africa (Madagascar) and the Red Sea (Jordan), as well as Sri Lanka, the Philippines and Australia.|
Native:Australia; Madagascar; Philippines; Sri Lanka

|Population:||There is no information available on the population of this species.|
|Current Population Trend:||Unknown|
|Habitat and Ecology:||This species is found in coastal environments and has been taken from tidal pools. In New Caledonia it is found in association with the Cyclopoid Copepod, Scambicornus calcaratus (Humes 1975).|
|Major Threat(s):||It is not known if there are any threats to this species.|
|Conservation Actions:||There are no known conservation measures in place for this species. However, its distribution directly overlaps with several marine protected areas. More research is needed on the biological and ecological information of this species as well as its population levels throughout its distribution.|
