Scientific Name: Schistura savona
Species Authority: (Hamilton, 1822)
Taxonomic Notes: Hamilton (1822) described Cobitis savona from Kosi River at Nathpur. Banarescu & Nalbant (1995) placed the species in the genus Schistura.

Justification:
Schistura savona is a widely distributed species in the Himalaya from Uttar Pradesh across Nepal to Darjeeling with no major identified threats.  Hence it is assessed as Least Concern.

Range Description:Schistura savona is found along the eastern Himalaya in Tista drainage at Darjeeling through Nepal, to Karnali and Kali drainages in Uttar Pradesh (Menon 1987)

There is no information on the population and its trends for this species, but survey data suggests that it is relatively widespread and common.
