Red List Category & Criteria: Critically Endangered B1ab(iii,v)+2ab(iii,v); D ver 3.1
Year Published: 2012

Reviewer(s): Baker, W.J., Beentje, H.J. & Bachman, S., Baker, W.J. & Beentje, H.J.
Justification:
Known only from a single location to the east of Andilamena, in an area estimated to be less than 6 kmĀ² (extent of occurrence and are of occupancy). The forest fragment where the palm grows is not protected. Even though the place is not easy to access, the forest is being destroyed because the local population are clearing the forest to cultivate hill rice. Moreover, numerous finds of rubies have been made at Behorefo, nearby. This palm is also threatened by many holes dug by miners inside the forest in order to look for minerals. This species meets the requirements for listing as Critically Endangered.
