Justification:
This species has an extremely small range being known from only a single location with an area of occupancy of 4 km² (the effective area occupied is only 25 m²). There are no apparent external threats and the population is stable. The population comprises c. 500 mature individuals (ramets) all grouped together. Based on the population size the species qualifies for listing as Vulnerable.

Range Description:This is a very range restricted endemic species known from only a single locality: Monte Manfriana (Pollino National Park) in the northern Calabria region of southern Italy (Cosenza Province).

Population: Single population of about 500 ramets.
Population Trend: Stable

Habitat and Ecology [top]

Habitat and Ecology: Linum katiae flowers in May-June, growing on limestone rocks at about 1,881 m a.s.l. It is a heterostylous out-crosser, which however, has also a propensity for vegetative propagation (stolons).

Use and Trade: The species is only collected for research purposes, no other use is known.

Threats [top]

Major Threat(s): Due to its very restricted range, intrinsic factors such as limited dispersal, and inbreeding may be issues for the future survival of this species. No external threats are known.

Conservation Actions [top]

Conservation Actions: The only known locality for this species is within the Pollino National Park. There is ex situ seed conservation in the Bank of Germplasm of the Botanic Garden at the University of Pisa.
