Habitat and Ecology [top]

Habitat and Ecology:This is a benthopelagic species, non-migratory species. It occurs in brackish coastal swamps, river mouths, lagoons, and mangrove swamps near beaches (Wildekamp et al. 1986), only rarely entering fresh or marine water. It is not a seasonal killifish. It is difficult to maintain in aquarium (Huber 1996).

Use and Trade [top]

Use and Trade: It has commercial value as an aquarium fish.

Threats [top]

Major Threat(s): It has commercial value as an aquarium fish.

Conservation Actions [top]

Conservation Actions: None known. More research is needed into this species population numbers and range, biology and ecology, and threats, as well as monitoring of population trends.
