The species is only known from one subpopulation containing a small number of mature individuals that is undergoing continuing decline in numbers and in extent and quality of habitat.

Habitat and Ecology: This perennial herb grows on north and northwest facing rocky places, in fissures of calcareous rocks of Jurassic origin.

Major Threat(s): The species is threatened by intense pasture from livestock. The population has been confined to higher places, where it is inaccessible. Competition from other plants is also a threat.
