Geographic Range [top]

Range Description: This species occurs in central and northern Israel, southwestern Syria and western Jordan. It has not been recorded from Lebanon but might occur there. In Israel it is suspected that the species possibly occurs as isolated populations, although further field studies are needed to confirm this.

Population: The abundance of this fossorial species is difficult to determine. It is very poorly known.

Habitat and Ecology: It is a fossorial species that occurs in sandy areas, with high humidity, where it can burrow into the substrate and under stones. It is not known if the species can be found in modified habitats.

Major Threat(s): The threats to this species are not well known. It is locally threatened in northern Jordan by agricultural intensification.

Conservation Actions: This species has been recorded from the Wadi Al Mawjib Protected area in Jordan. It is protected by national legislation in Israel.
