Endemic to Lake Malawi where it is naturally found at a single restricted location at Chizumulu Island.

Geographic Range [top]

Range Description: Endemic to Lake Malawi. Occurs at Chizumulu (south western part) where it is common. Also occurs at Likoma Island (Mbuzi Island) and at Nkhata bay (at the tip of the peninsula). Exporters for the aquarium trade probably introduced these two subpopulations.
