Endemic to Lake Malawi where it is only known from two restricted locations.

Habitat and Ecology [top]

Habitat and Ecology:At Nkhomo reef it occurs over a sand habitat at a depth of about 16 m. Feeds on plankton, insects and crustaceans. Males in breeding colouration are seen throughout the year. Is not exported in the aquarium trade.

Major Threat(s): Restricted range. Subsistence fishing.
