Justification: Orthetrum kristenseni is still quite common in the Ethiopian Highlands (Pinhey 1982, Clausnitzer and Dijkstra 2005). It does not to have a narrow ecological niche and is also found in anthropogenic habitats. At the moment it does not qualify for a higher category and therefore is assessed as Least Concern. However, with ongoing pollution and destruction of wetlands in Ethiopia, the species should be monitored. The species may qualify for a Near Threatened category or even a threatened category in the future. |
