Justification:
The differences between . vanbrinkae and C. ornatum are not clear: they may be conspecific. It is thought that the species is probably declining due to habitat destruction, however the taxonomic status should be clarified before an assessment can be made.

Range Description: Coenagrion vanbrinkae was described on the basis of specimens from Turkey and Iran and was recently published for Armenia and Syria (Heideri and Dumont 2002, Kalkman et al. 2004, Lohmann 1993, Schneider 2004, Tailly et al. 2004).
