Listed as Data Deficient in view of continuing doubts as to its taxonomic validity as well as absence of information on its extent of occurrence, status and ecological requirements.

Geographic Range [top]

Range Description: This species has been found in two localities in northern Sumatra, and it has also been found in the southern part of Aceh, also in Sumatra, Indonesia. There are also records from Nias Island, but a record from Singapore needs to be verified.

Population: There is very little information on the population status of this species. A very small number of specimens have been collected since 2000, and there have been records from Sumatra in 2000 and 2001 (Iskandar pers. comm.).
Population Trend: Unknown

Habitat and Ecology [top]

Habitat and Ecology: The recent records of this species have been from lowland selectively logged rainforest and swamp forest. It is presumably a subterranean species, with terrestrial eggs and larvae that live in streams.

Major Threat(s): There is no information on threats to this species.

Conservation Actions: It is not known from any protected areas in Indonesia, but the unconfirmed record from Singapore is from a protected area. It is in need of taxonomic review (Wilkinson pers. comm.)
