Range Description:This species is known from scattered localities in Ilan, Taitung, Taichung, Hualien, Kaohsiung and Kenting in Taiwan, Province of China. It has been recorded from low to mid altitudes.

Habitat and Ecology:It inhabits primary broadleaf forests, and breeds in tree holes and buckets placed in forests.

Conservation Actions: It is protected within Fu-shan Nature Reserve and Li-chia Wildlife Refuge. Further research is needed to investigate the reasons for the decline in this species, and close population monitoring is required.
