Listed as Least Concern since, although its Extent of Occurrence is probably less than 20,000 km2, it occurs in an area of extensive, suitable habitat which appears not to be under significant threat, it has a presumed large population, and it is unlikely to be declining fast enough to qualify for listing in a more threatened category.

Range Description:This species occurs in the Serra do Mar and Serra da Mantiqueira in the States of São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, and extreme southeastern Minas Gerais, southeastern Brazil. Its altitudinal range is from 500-1,300m asl.

Habitat and Ecology:It lives mainly in primary forest, but also in old secondary forest, where it is found in the leaf-litter on the forest floor. It breeds in permanent and temporary streams.
