Listed as Least Concern in view of its wide distribution, tolerance of a broad range of habitats, presumed large population, and because it is unlikely to be declining fast enough to qualify for listing in a more threatened category.

Range Description: This species occurs in the southern lowlands of Papua New Guinea. Although its distribution is poorly documented, it probably occurs widely in monsoon forests and rainforest in southern New Guinea. It has not yet been recorded from Indonesia. All records are from below 100m asl.

Population: It is locally abundant, but is sometimes hard to find.

Habitat and Ecology [top]

Habitat and Ecology: It lives in closed-canopy rainforest, but also occurs in more open forest and moist savannah across southern New Guinea. It breeds in temporary pools, and survives in degraded habitats. It can tolerate bush fires.
