Justification:
A shrub endemic to Andean Ecuador, where it is known from six subpopulations. Five are from Loja province and one from the Pilaló-Latacunga road, in Cotopaxi province. The Loja province collections are from south of Saraguro and from Amaluza, near the border with Peru, in the Cordillera de las Lagunillas. Potentially occurs inside the Parque Nacional Podocarpus. Apart from habitat destruction, no specific threats are known.
