Justification:
The species is found only in one province, in degraded and fragmented habitats. This area is not protected and is exposed to human disturbance, i.e., logging, slash-and-burn, and expansion of settlement areas. The species is over-collected in the wild, often sold in orchid shows and markets, and in demand in the international trade.

Habitat and Ecology:A monotypic genus. The species is closely related to Hymenorchis javanica from Java with white flowers and serrate margins of leaves, sepals, and petals (Fessel and Balzer 2000). Flowers very bright red or orange. Found in primary and secondary forests at low altitudes.
