Justification:
A shrub or vine endemic to southern Ecuador, where three subpopulations are known in upper Andean forests and paramos of Loja province. Confirmed to occur inside the Parque Nacional Podocarpus. Classified as Endangered by the the IUCN in 1997 (Walter and Gillett 1998). Apart from habitat destruction, no specific threats are known.
