A shrub endemic to northeastern Ecuador, where it is known exclusively from roadsides along the Lumbaquí-El Reventador road. Additional subpopulations may occur in the Parque Nacional Sumaco-Napo-Galeras. Apart from habitat destruction, no specific threats are known.
