Justification:
A shrub endemic to Ecuador, where it is known from five subpopulations in remnants of Andean vegetation. Last collected in Bolívar province in 1995. Not known to occur in Ecuador's protected areas network, but could occur in the Reserva Ecológica El Angel, the Reserva Ecológica Cotacachi-Cayapas and the Reserva Ecológica Cayambe-Coca. The principal threats are grazing, anthropogenic fires and deforestation. The species is mentioned in the Catálogo de las plantas vasculares del Ecuador as Cephaelis jamesonii (Taylor, in Jørgensen and León-Yánez 1999).
