Justification:
A shrub endemic to the western slopes of the Ecuadorean Andes. Known from two subpopulations (each with three collections) from western Pichincha province. One is near Mindo and the other is near Chiriboga (in the Río Guajalito private reserve). Not known to occur in Ecuador's protected areas network, but the Mindo subpopulation is inside the Bosque Protector Mindo-Nambillo. Apart from habitat destruction, no specific threats are known.
