Justification:
A tree endemic to the western slopes of the Ecuadorean Andes. Known from two locales in Pichincha province: one on the Pacto–Nuevo Azuay road, 10 km north of La Esperanza, and the other on the El Paraíso–Saguangual road, 3–11 km from El Paraíso. Not known to occur inside Ecuador protected areas network, but could occur in the Reserva Ecológica Cotacachi-Cayapas and the Reserva Ecológica Los Ilinizas. Apart from habitat destruction, no specific threats are known.
