Justification:
A shrub endemic to Ecuador, where it is widely distributed in the southern Andes. At least 20 subpopulations have been recorded, some of them in the Parque Nacional Podocarpus. The principal threats are logging and colonization of the high elevation Andean forests and paramos preferred by the species.
