Justification: A bamboo endemic to Andean Ecuador, where it is a frequent and common species in northern Cañar and southern Chimborazo provinces. Protected in the Parque Nacional Llanganates, Parque Nacional Sangay, Parque Nacional Cajas, and Parque Nacional Podocarpus. The only type was apparently destroyed in the Berlin herbarium during the Second World War. Apart from habitat destruction, no specific threats are known. |
