Justification:
A bamboo endemic to Ecuador, where it is apparently common in wet Andean forests in the eastern cordillera. Known from a least ten subpopulations and protected in the Parque Nacional Podocarpus; also collected near the Parque Nacional Cajas. Apart from habitat destruction, no specific threats are known.
