Justification:
A herb or subshrub endemic to eastern Ecuador. Rarely collected but reported as locally abundant on riverbanks of the rivers and streams in the Río Napo watershed. The existing subpopulations are inside the Reserva de Producción Faunística Cuyabeno and the Parque Nacional Yasuní. The scarcity of collections may be because the plant only has one short-lived flower per season. Reported from Colombia, but the identification is dubious. Apart from habitat destruction, no specific threats are known.
