Justification: A shrub endemic to southeastern Ecuador, where it is known only from the original 1967 collection. Discovered at km 39–41 of the Cuenca–General Plaza (Limón) road. Not known to occur inside Ecuador’s protected areas network, but expected in the Parque Nacional Sangay. No specimens of this species are housed in Ecuadorean museums. Apart from habitat destruction, no specific threats are known. |
