A terrestrial herb endemic to the western foothills of the Ecuadorean Andes, where it is known only from the type. Discovered near San Miguel de los Bancos, in Pichincha province. Described as a dubious taxa in the Flora of Ecuador, and considered Data Deficient until its taxonomy is clarified. Apart from habitat destruction, no specific threats are known.
