A terrestrial herb endemic to eastern Ecuador, collected in several sites mostly in lowland forest. The largest populations grow near the Río Napo in Puerto Misahuallí. Another large population grows along the Río Bobonaza, in Pastaza province. Not known to occur inside Ecuador’s protected areas network, but at least one large population is protected inside the Jatun Sacha private reserve. Apart from habitat destruction, no specific threats are known.
