A terrestrial herb endemic to coastal Ecuador. Three populations have been recorded in the Ila mountains, at Cerro El Centinela and Patricia Pilar. A fourth was recorded in Cañar province, on the road between Azoques and El Triunfo, 1 km south of La Delicia. All of the recorded populations occur between 600 and 700 m elevation, except the Centinela collection at 1000 m. Apart from habitat destruction, no specific threats are known.
