Justification:
An epiphytic herb endemic to coastal Ecuador, where it is has been found in primary forest in at least six locales. The only population in Ecuador’s protected areas network is in the Reserva Ecológica Mache-Chindul. The species is coveted by Gesneriaceae collectors and widely cultivated outside Ecuador. Considered Endangered due to the massive alteration of coastal forest over the past 50 years.
