Assessment Information [top]

Red List Category & Criteria: Vulnerable D2 ver 3.1
Year Published: 2004
Date Assessed: 2004-04-30
Assessor(s): León-Yánez, S. & Pitman, N.
Reviewer(s): Valencia, R., Pitman, N., Léon-Yánez, S. & Jørgensen, P.M. (Ecuador Plants Red List Authority)
Justification:
A terrestrial herb endemic to high-elevation Andean habitat in Ecuador. All the collections were recorded on the Volcán Chimborazo, inside the Reserva de Producción Faunística Chimborazo. A report from Tungurahua is actually also from Chimborazo, and a report from Azuay province is apparently based on a misidentification. Apart from habitat destruction, no specific threats are known.
